MedaLogistics  Weeek  Barcelona 2024

Uniting three continents through Mediterranean logistics

The Mediterranean Logistics & Transport Summit, MedaLogistics Week, is back in 2024 with a special edition that commemorates its 20th anniversary. The summit, which brings together international experts from the leading sectors of logistics, maritime, transport and infrastructure, will take place on the 5th to 6th of June in the framework of SIL Barcelona, the leading exhibition for logistics, transport, intralogistics and supply chain in Southern Europe.

 

MedaLogistics Week Barcelona 2024 will provide insights into the present and the future of the Mediterranean logistic sector by discussing on strategic topics such as the diversification of the supply chain in the Mediterranean, the geopolitical context, the emergence of logistics and manufacturing hubs across the Middle East and Africa or the sustainable transition. On the celebration of its 20th anniversary, MedaLogistics Week will focus on positioning the Mediterranean as a heavyweight hub for global trade and logistics by uniting three continents: Europe, Africa and Asia.

MID OF MED 2024

ASCAME at the Mediterranean Business Summit in Izmir (Turkey)

ASCAME was so well represented at MID of MED 2024, the summit organized by the Association of Businesswomen of Izmir that took place in the Turkish city on the 29th and 30th of January. The summit counted with the special intervention of Mr. Ahmed El Wakil, President of ASCAME, who highlighted "the event's commitment to the economic integration in a new regional order with key pillars such as equality, balancing success with sustainability and the rise of geoeconomics, in addition to the commitment to innovation, digital transformation and education." 

 

The event also counted with the participation of Dr. Alaa Ezz, Board Member of ASCAME and Secretary General of the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations, Ms. Rim Siam, Board Member of ICC World Chambers Federation General Council and President of Economic Businesswomen Council / Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, and Ms. Maria Helena de Felipe Lehtonen, President of ASCAME's partner AFAEMME -the Federation of Mediterranean Businesswomen Organizations-.

CCI of Cagliari-Oristano organizes the 'Sardegna - Turchia Business Forum'

 

ASCAME's member Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Cagliari-Oristano organized the 'Sardegna - Turchia Business Forum' in the city of Cagliari on the 2nd of February. The main objective of the meeting was to present to Sardinian companies the market and investment opportunities offered by Turkey.

 

The summit brought together experts and entrepreneurs from Turkey who talked about the sectors of greatest interest for Sardinian operators, such as agri-food, infrastructure & logistics, tourism or IT sectors. Italy is  Turkey's main trading partner in the Mediterranean region and the second largest in the EU.

Anwar Zibaoui, General Coordinator of ASCAME, reflects on the opportunity of the Mediterranean to become a key player on the international stage in an article published by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

 

 

Mr. Anwar Zibaoui is optimistic about the future of the Mediterranean: "Our region can take advantage of opportunities such as its location in three continents -Africa, Asia and Europe-, the transition towards a new development model based on green and blue economy, the digital transformation or the common heritage."

The Chambre de Commerce Italienne pour la France de Marseille at BIT Your Travel 2024

 

ASCAME’s member Chambre de Commerce Italienne pour la France de Marseille (CCIFM) participated at BIT Your Travel 2024, the international tourism fair in Italy that took place in the city of Milan from 4th to 6th of February.

 

Within the event, representatives from this institution explained to visitors about its purpose, which is to strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations between France and Italy. The CCIFM has become a strategic interlocutor for any company wishing to consider concrete business opportunities in the two reference markets. All the projects and initiatives launched by this chamber of commerce  are focused on promoting the ‘Made in Italy’ throughout the world.

Women empowerment

 

Ms. Rim Siam has been nominated President of the Economic Business Women Council at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), a great stride for FEDCOC to accelerate women empowerment with their national chambers. Ms. Siam is committed to helping to increase the proportion of women in leadership roles and build a pipeline of talent and creative young entrepreneurs through partnerships and joint initiatives.

New partnership agreement 

 

ASCAME signed a new collaboration agreement with DevelopmentAid, which is the world's premier information service provider for international development aid and economic and humanitarian assistance stakeholders. Both parties agreed to support initiatives for economic and social development, bilateral and economic cooperation in the Mediterranean. The agreement includes the exchange of knowledge and best practices and the launching of joint projects, events and meetings.

 

Interreg NEXT MED Programme First call for proposals 

 

Last days to apply for the Interreg NEXT MED Programme First call for proposals (until 28th of March). Over €100 million in EU funding to tackle shared Mediterranean challenges, such as: investment in research and innovation, fostering SME growth, advancing renewable energy solutions, bolstering climate change adaptation measures, promoting educational opportunities, ensuring access to quality healthcare or enhancing local governance processes.
